How many Dreis relatives fought on the German side in the two World Wars is not known as the German nominal rolls have not been published. However the roll of German war dead includes 17 persons called Dreis, one of whom - Anselm - was definitely born in Lorch. No place of birth is stated for 10. There are war memorials in both Lorch and Lorchhausen which indicate that some of these 16 men and one (81-year-old) woman had a local connection. Robert Ansell writes: "A memorial bronze plaque was dedicated to the war dead from Lorchhausen in World War One and Two. The plaque was dedicated in 2001 and is located near the 'new' Catholic Church [at street level near the base of the church]. The 'Dreis' war dead were:

Apart from the 'Dreis' war dead the memorial records many other family names that would be well known to our group including Pohl, Rossler, Weiler, Korb and Muller. I have a photo of the memorial plaque and all the names are easy to read."
Frank Breunig adds: "There is a war memorial in Lorch too:
